Welcome to Arlington

A hip, urban community on the beautiful Potomac River

Arlington, Va., is separated from Washington, D.C. by the Potomac River. The proximity to the U.S. capital and its connection to American history make Arlington a wonderful place to reside.

Waterfront parks, landscaped sidewalks, and beautiful neighborhoods make Arlington one of the best places in Northern Virginia. The county encompassing the city of Arlington contains approximately 230,000 residents. Many prominent corporations are headquartered in Arlington, as are invaluable institutions such as Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, and the Department of Defense headquarters. The city combines the heft of U.S. politics and history with more transitory amenities like great shopping, nightlife, and restaurants.

South Arlington and North Arlington are the two main divisions of the city. Distinct neighborhoods in Arlington include Far North, Southwest Arlington, Arlington National Cemetery, Crystal City, and Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor.

At approximately 26 square miles, Arlington is a large community, among the wealthiest and most educated cities in the United States. Arlington is home to a significant population of professionals who work at the many corporations and businesses in the area. Many foreign dignitaries and ambassadors also live or spend time in Arlington.
